I decided to try to modify my $25.00 Sears Scroll saw to use it for marquetry. I found a wonderful blade-holder kit (see below). I installed it and found that it worked very well.
A new saw table was made so that hardwood support could be given to one's veneer by sliding two pieces from each side of the table, meeting at each side of the blade.
I also found a perfect-fitting plastic pulley to be used with a round belt to the sewing machine motor.
